Hardscapes and outdoor living

Hardscape is where most of our work starts, because it is the part of a yard that decides how the rest of it gets used. A patio sized properly takes a table and chairs without anyone backing into a flower bed. A seating wall gives you somewhere to put people when there are more of them than there are chairs. A fire pit is what makes a family come outside in October.

The work you can see is the easy half. Underneath every patio and walkway we build there is an excavated, graded and compacted base, with the drainage set before a single paver is laid. Retaining walls get the same treatment: proper backfill and drainage behind them, so they hold the soil back for good rather than bowing out three winters later.

We work in paver, natural stone and stamped concrete, and where a wall or structure needs a building permit we pull it ourselves. On larger jobs you see the whole thing as a 3D rendering before we break ground.
